Behind Opus
The story of the Opus distillery is first and foremost that of Charles Leglise, a man with a passion for food, cooking and the art of living. Ever since his childhood, Charles has nurtured the dream of sharing the richness of Lao culture with the world.
His career path began in the kitchen, continued with studies in hotel and restaurant management, and was consolidated by a trip to Europe, Canada and the United States.
Enchanted by Southeast Asia, he settled in Luang Prabang, Laos, where he discovered the intoxicating world of spirits. Charles then returned to France, between Burgundy and Normandy, to perfect his distilling skills. His goal is clear: to turn dreams into reality by creating elegant spirits in the heart of Laos, and to share his art.
We strongly defend the preservation of local craftsmanship in the face of industrial production. Our methods respect the natural riches of Laos, a land of softness and lightness, and support the local economy. Our products embody the refined marriage of French know-how and Indochinese beauty, while respecting ecological specifications based on sustainable and responsible practices.
